Our three Italian visitors today depart from the islands after an action packed three day visit to the islands. Thanks for visiting, we have learnt a lot and it has been a joy to host your visit.

Today we welcomed Italians Giovanna, Massimo (Olbia Municipality/Tavolara Marine Protected Area) and Paolo, (associated beneficiary NEMO Ltd) to the islands.
This week there were Manx shearwaters aplenty including Balearic shearwaters, many other seabirds, minke whale, dolphins and jellyfish.
Every Friday, Scillonian III wildlife guides board the ferry to point our wildlife to the passengers. This week they saw a barrel jellyfish, scoters, gannets, and of cause Manx shearwaters!
Low tide meant three boats, a punt, life jackets and patience! But as always when we need to get work done between these islands, the volunteers are commited!
Isles of Scilly Wildlife Trust Rangers and volunteers were today trained how to undertake biosecurity measures, surveillence and incursion response to keep the islands free of rats.
Project Manager, Jaclyn Pearson, is a bird ringer for the British Trust for Ornithology and tonight her and the project volunteers joined resident and visiting seabird bird ringers to undertake ringing of Manx Shearwaters and storm petrels at a 'constant effort site' which has been used for the past 5 years by ringer John Brown, St Mary's.
