Thanks to project volunteer Randolph and the community members for checking the permanent bait stations on St Agnes and Gugh this month. Considering it is December, the weather is not too bad on the islands!
Today the team headed to the smaller islands of Peashopper, Foremans and Crow - to set up stations, will there be any rat-sign on these stepping stones? They also headed back to St Helens and tried to reach Round island, but alas it was too choppy to land there.
Today the team returned to Tean to monitor the bait take and any sign on the chocolate wax.
This evening we supported the annual (and belated due to half term times on the islands) Bonfire and Fireworks night on St Agnes. It provides the perfect opportunity to remove potential rat-harbouring material on a large community bonfire thanks to Fran Hicks.
Today saw the start of the winter programme to ensure the uninhabited islands on Scilly which are a refuge for seabirds, are kept rat-free
Jaclyn bumped into Chris behind the scenes at BBC's 'Autumnwatch' this Halloween
The pemultimate journey for 2014 saw plenty of seabirds and a Minke whale!
Each week a Guide on the Scillonian points out the wildlife to the passengers. This week there was a great mix of birds and cetaceans. There are just 2 more weeks to go now until the end of the season. The last trip is Friday 7th Novemeber.
Each Friday a wildlife guide points out the wildlife seen from the Scillonian III.
