Two more of the 'seabird task force volunteers!' left the project today, we will miss you Tegs and Al. They accompanied Lundy warden Beccy MacDonald back to the mainland as she has visited the project this week to learn more about biosecurity measures.
Today's Scillonian III ferry sailing was the first trip of the year where the projects live interpreter was onboard and they saw 8 puffins and 4 Manx Shearwater! They are heading back to Scilly from their wintering grounds- welcome back.

In the great weekend this weather the team set up over 100 monitoring stations and revisited the IOSWT bait stations to check the island is rat-free after the winter operation.
The bait stations from around the islands are now back in storage ready to be used on other uninhabited islands and other projects. The project now moves into the biosecurity phase.
Around 125 people took part in the parade through Hugh Town on Saturday evening, to showcase homemade lanterns which this year celebrates seabirds as part of the project.
Today the children and young people of St Agnes created a ‘shadow puppet’ show at the workshop on St Agnes.
The theme for this years ‘Island Light Festival 2014’ is a celebration of Scilly’s seabirds with a particular focus on the Project.

Sarah Havery will be sorely missed, but we wish her the best of luck as she heads off to lead a team of conservationists on an island in Antigua. The project based on the island of Crump will carry out island restoration work, removing rats to save snakes and seabirds.
