As part of the project we are monitoring the seabirds on other islands. The island of St Helen's has been kept rat-free for over the last decade by the Isles of Scilly WildlifeTrust. The removal of rats has meant that the burrow nesting seabirds have a better chance of rearing chicks in their burrows. We heard the calls of over 20 Manxieas today and saw puffins nesting! lots of other ground nesting seabirds were seen too.
Thanks to volunteers Sara, Ed, Lydia and Kirsty.
