Useful information for mainland attendees

What to bring to the conference

  • Part of the conference will be field based so please bring layers, waterproofs and sun cream 
  • Food will be provided whilst on Scilly (breakfast at your B&B, light lunch both days, evening buffet ) 
  • There is a cash point, Co-op and other shops on St Marys when you arrive for anything extra you need. 
  • Binoculars for wildlife watching 
  • A torch as there are no street lights on St Agnes

Tuesday Evening 26th September

Travel to Penzance as per your own arrangements.

Check in at either Longboat or Union hotel as per emails with Jaclyn Pearson. Meal with Project Supervisor (Paul St Pierre) and other attendees - location and time TBC

Day One - Wednesday 27th September

Leaving Penzance

The ferry (Scillonian III) departs Penzance Quay at 9:15am.

Please arrive for check in at 08:15 where Paul St Pierre, Project supervisor (with orange hat on) will check you off our own register and direct you to the check in kiosk.

The ferry arrives on Scilly at 12:15. Paul St Pierre to point out wildlife seen from ferry (bring your binoculars) . For more information visit https://www.islesofscilly-travel.co.uk/

Please try to travel light, do not check your bag into the container and carry it with you on board as it will speed up the disembarkation process at the other side.

The queue for the ferry is uncovered and outside; we would recommend keeping a warm coat with you. Note that on the boat, no debit cards are taken in the café etc, only cash.

Arrival on St Mary’s, Isles of Scilly

On arrival you will be met by team members who will take you to your guest houses for check in, either Bylet Guest House http://www.byletholidays.com/guesthouse or Treboeth Guest House https://www.visitislesofscilly.com/accommodation/bed-breakfast/st-marys/treboeth-guest-house

You will not return until 10pm that night as the conference is held on the island of St Agnes, so keep your day bag with you.

En-route the team member can point out shops to pick up lunchtime refreshments, as only tea and coffee is provided on arrival at the Island Hall for the conference start.

Arrival on St Agnes

On St Agnes you will be guided by the team, but between 17:30 – 18:45, you will have free time, here is a map of St Agnes

Day Two – Thursday 28th September 2017

9:00 Breakfast at your B&B, and check out by 10:30, bring your bags with you to St Mary’s Church Hall.

10:45 Meet at St Marys Church Hall (see Map 2)

15:00 - End of conference.

Check in no later than 15:45 for the ferry 19:00

Arrival in Penzance, check into hotel.

Friday 29th September

Onward travel from Penzance as per your own arrangements.
